While attending the Sheffield Heritage Open Day (HOD) I chanced upon Roy Hattersley seated outside the main entrance to Park Hill . . .

. . . and later up on the decks, being filmed with Grenville Squires for a clip to be shown on The One Show the 15th.

Above, Roy Hattersley interviews Grenville in the buggy he used to collect refuse around the estate while driving around the “streets in the sky”.

A sneaky shot of the film crew bag and clipboard but the resolution is not quite good enough to decipher the script however some words can be guessed at.

UPDATE: What a strange mélange of advertisement, opinion piece and documentary while being none of those.  I thought that Roy Hattersley came over very well being honest and straight talking in his opinion about the flats, and having the advantage of having been there at the beginning in 1961. Chair of the committee that commissioned the flats.

He certainly didn’t let the council get away with anything in terms of their failure to fill the flats with people from the waiting list and to my eyes the question was left hanging that something altogether more useful for Sheffield might have been done than simply putting a few on the market at £90k and leaving the rest empty for now.

A bit like a Chinese meal.  Filling at the time but 30 minutes later I want another one.  Wasn’t it just an ad for Urban Splash? The One Show September 15th 2011
